UPDATE: Carter’s Cash Caper

with 2 comments

I never claimed to be, aspired to be, nor pretended to be a fan of James Earl Carter. Simply put, he was one of the least effective Presidents of the twentieth century and yet he is a hero to many. Why that is, is beyond me. I believe that the only reason he was elected was that he was the “Anti Nixon”. He was the image of propriety, charity, and a real American. Miss Lillian sure seemed to have raised herself a good’un.

Let’s fast forward into the twenty-first century and take a peek at what “Jimmy” has been up to. One of Jimmy’s latest acts of charity is to criticize other Presidents. This practice used to be taboo for former Presidents to do, but hey, Jimmy is a righteous man so it must be ok now.

Carter’s Geo-Political views, once heralded as a result of the Camp David Accords, now challenge us to believe that he thinks in terms of Americanism. His demand that America should give Hamas millions of dollars is an example of this. One should also remember how he handed Iran over to the Ayatollahs and his weakness during the Iran Hostage Crisis but the latest news on Jimmy should have even his staunchest supporters scrambling for some damage controls.

Discovered while hiking along a Carter paper trail, was the fact that the Carter Center in Atlanta was supported in part by the Saudi Bin Ladin Group. Since September 2000, $1,000,000 has been siphoned to the Carter Center through Bakr M. Bin Ladin.

Could this donation have been made in gratitude for Carter’s “Blame America First” tour?

TERESA adds: Julie Gorin’s insightful article on Carter’s Lifetime Bigotry and Racism. Shameful.

Fraud Part Of Public Service’s Job Requirements

John Stossel with another eye-opening myth buster. And here I thought that everything you read in the Congressional Records actually happened.

Linda Chavez’s Republican hypocrisy can be thrown in there with the mix.

Japanese Scientists Allow Mona Lisa To Speak

leave a comment »

Inspired by Monty Python, Japanese acoustics experts have created a way to hear what the Mona Lisa’s voice would sound like. Mona Lisa was heard to stomp her feet and say “È romanzo, nell’interesse di qualità.”

Translation? “It’s fiction, for goodness sakes.”

Only With The Yankees

I asked Tony if I could post that there was no god in Toronto. He said that’s only when we play against the Yankees and lose. Boston got their asses kicked tonight and had a chance for a comeback in the 7th inning. Pitching in general is just in the pits.

Boston Red Sox loses to Toronto Blue Jays 5 – 8 in Toronto.

I’ll still say it… there is no god in Toronto.

Red Sox 30 – 20 .600
Yankees 29 – 20 .592
Blue Jays 29 – 22 .569

Pre-Teenage Years Can Start The Battle Against Breast Cancer

Latest studies show that females can start reducing their risks for breast cancer as young as pre-teens by exercise and a low-fat diet. Makes sense to me.

Bush’s Supreme Court Rules Conservatively On The Law

leave a comment »

When Glenn Beck asks “Name one thing good that President Bush has done while in office,” I can rattle off at least ten major political policies, decisions, that Bush can claim credit for that has affected the world or the United States of America for the better.

Already making a difference in legal precedence, this conservative majority U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that government whistle-blowers are not protected by free-speech rights when they face employer discipline for trying to expose possible misconduct at work.

By a 5-4 vote, the high court ruled against a California prosecutor who said he was demoted, denied a promotion and transferred for trying to expose a lie by a county sheriff’s deputy in a search-warrant affidavit.

Adopting the position of the Los Angeles prosecutor’s office and the U.S. Justice Department, the high court ruled that a public employee has no First Amendment right in speech expressed as part of performing job-required duties.

Writing for the court majority, Justice Anthony Kennedy said there is protection for whistle-blowers in federal and state laws and rules of conduct for government attorneys.

Kennedy was joined by the court’s conservatives — Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.

The court’s liberals, Justices John Paul Stevens, David Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer, dissented.

"To Label Me Is To Negate Me"

with one comment

Lately, a number of inquiries as to my identity have been landing on T’s desk. Being, ( as always), your humble servant, I will attempt to alleviate any stress you may have experienced as a result of my anonymity.

My real name is blowing in the wind, listen for it in the ephemeral voids of the night and you just might hear it.

The sublime recesses of your mind where the notions of fairplay and common sense still live and thrive are my summer home and I winter in the realm of realism and positivity.

My parents are Free Thought and Free Speech. You, my readers, are my brothers and sisters and my children are the laughter, anger, and any other thoughts I can provoke in you.

My Nom de Plume serves to eliminate any chance that your reactions to, or opinions of my efforts will be skewed by preconceived notions of me.

In addition to all the afore mentioned, I just enjoy the idea that not knowing who I am drives a few of you bonkers.

As always, your faithful servant, The Grrandwazoo.

Do It Now

leave a comment »

On the internet, around the watercooler, and over the back fence people are sharing the events of their Memorial Day experiences. Right now, before all the patriotic sentiments fade, and the names of those we remembered and grieved for weave themselves into the blurred tapestry of our busy lives, take time to consider the future of our great country.

As mentioned here before, there is a plan afoot to unify, Canada, Mexico, and the US into what will be ( and already is by some), refered to as “The North American Union”. The outlines and some of the specifics of this unwanted and unneeded venture are already drawn up and ready to be set in motion without even have been sent to Congress for discussion and certainly not presented for approval by those sent to Washington to serve US, the the American citizens.

We cannot sit idly by while this plan strips us of our sovereignty and denies us our rights, our culture, and the freedoms that we enjoy as citizens of the greatest country in the history of mankind. Let YOUR Representatives in Washington know TODAY that you are opposed to this or any other formulae that would dissolve the United States of America as we know it, and want it to be.
