UPDATE: 42 Dead, MSM’s Quiet About Obama’s Absence

with 2 comments

UPDATE: 2/4/09 The Anchoress lambasts the drive by media for ignoring the suffering going on in Kentucky while Obama fiddles, I mean drinks vodka martinis and eats $100 a lb. steak.

But still, why isn’t the president down there, hugging people? Why was he schmoozing congress with steak dinners* while people were suffering? Why is this going on for almost a week without the president going in there and fixing everything? It’s been way more than 100 hours! Where is Obama? Why does the government not show us what is really going on? Where are the pictures of stranded people? We want to see the pictures! People have died! Show us the bodies!

Hey, I’ve watched the professionals in the mainstream media – I know these are the questions we’re supposed to be asking. They’ll get to them any day, now…any day.

This proves once again that the mainstream media is selective in its coverage, which is driven by its own agenda. What it wants to cover and hype for good or ill gets covered and hyped ad nauseam. And what it does not want to address, gets lost. This is an inconvenient story, with inconvenient victims, so you won’t see the high drama, the probing questions and harsh criticism we’ve seen before.

UPDATE: Letter from Paducah, Kentucky, asking where is the media, where is the outrage that occurred with Katrina? (See T’s thoughts further down) Michelle Malkin a post script to Tim McGann’s email.

What stands [out] to me [is that] there [are] no news anchors from any of the Big 3 or any cable news channel including Fox News; No Sheperd Smith or Greta or any satellite trucks to document the devastation or two hour gas lines or the mad rush for generators at Home Depot.

Unfortunately they also won’t document that no one is crying for the federal government or FEMA as everyone is just taking care of business without them thank you very much…

Florida sending National Guard communication teams and recovery specialists to Kentucky today. Has Obama said anything yet about the suffering of people in Kentucky?

UPDATE: 24 Confirmed Dead.

UPDATE: Still no word from Obama on helping the people of Kentucky. No press releases on what Obama is doing to help the state where 16 people have now died. No television speeches. No on-site visits. Not even a stinkin’ Air Force One fly over. Dan McLaughlin, Red State says what everyone is whispering behind Obama’s back: You Should Have Gone To Kentucky, Mr. President.

It seems President #44 is more interested in the Democrats pork bill than helping the po’ folks of Kentucky.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One million people without water or electricity in the middle of winter. How many will die? I wonder if Obama will still have his Super Bowl party or will he be asking his administration what FEMA is going to do to save the white people in the state of Kentucky?
Will Obama get the blame for this natural disaster like President George Bush got for Katrina?
Where is Geraldo and Shepard Smith crying about the incompetency of the government? Oh, the inhumanity!
  2. I live in Owensboro, KY and I am still without full power or heat. However things have drastically improved over the last few days. It would have been nice to have a little quicker response from FEMA, but in the true Kentuckian way, we all helped each other out, picked ourselves up, dusted ourselves off, and went on about the process of getting things back to normal. The government bureaucracy can go ahead and keep running in circles – meanwhile, we’ve got work to do.
